The Toronto Science Policy Network aims to provide a platform for students (graduate and undergraduate) as well as Post Doctoral researchers at the University of Toronto to learn more about and engage in science policy.

In this TSPN Talk, we will hear from Dr. Monika Kastner about Knowledge Translation and Implementation: Current Challenges & Opportunities.

Interested in learning about how research findings can be translated to the public to have an impact? Join the Toronto Science Policy Network for our next TSPN Talk which will discuss knowledge translation and implementation - the processes involved in moving research to its application within health-care fields. Dr. Monika Kastner will provide an overview of knowledge translation, discuss its processes and importance, and share her experience working in the field. If you’d like to learn more about knowledge translation and connect with others working in this space, we hope you attend. There will be an opportunity to ask Dr. Kastner questions at the end of her talk. Everyone is welcome to attend — regardless of whether you are currently a student, working, or anywhere in between.

About Dr Monika Kastner:Monika Kastner is the Research Chair in Knowledge Translation (KT) and Implementation at North York General Hospital and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME). Monika’s research interests and goals are to make a positive impact on the health of vulnerable populations with the use of innovative eHealth technologies, and to advance the science and practice of KT and health services research. Monika is the recipient of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) New Investigator Award and the Early Researcher Award from the Ontario Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science in recognition of her work on the KeepWell initiative, which is a unique mHealth application that empowers older adults and their providers to optimize multimorbidity management.

About the Toronto Science Policy Network:The Toronto Science Policy Network is a student-run science policy group which provides a platform to learn more about and engage in science policy. Since July 2018, we have organized a variety of events (including workshops, public panels and talks) and advocacy efforts, engaging over 300 individuals to date. While we are a recognized campus group at the University of Toronto, we welcome members outside the university to join. Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you study or actively work in the sciences, social sciences, or humanities.
