Do I need teaching experience to apply?

No formal teaching experience is required. We welcome Con-Ed students, newly certified teachers, university/college students, and individuals with strong subject knowledge who are comfortable teaching.

What subjects are you hiring for?

We are looking for tutors for all K–12 subjects, with high demand in Functions, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Math, Reading and Writing.

Is this an in-person position?

Yes, this is an all in person position with locations in Picton, Belleville, and Stirling.

Question 4

Do I need to attend the recruitment session to apply?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The session explains our expectations, standards, scheduling requirements, and the full application process. Only attendees will receive the official application form.

What happens after the recruitment session?

You’ll receive an application form. If selected, you’ll move forward to a 15–20 minute teaching demonstration with our leadership team.

Do I need to prepare anything for the recruitment session?

No preparation required - just come ready to learn about Lighthouse and our expectations.

Do I have to commit to certain hours?

You choose your availability, but it must align with our busiest tutoring times (typically between 3:00–8:00pm on weekdays).

Is training provided?

Yes. You’ll receive full onboarding, access to our tutor handbook, and curriculum-aligned materials prepared by our curriculum coordinator, Nolan.

Do tutors get paid bonuses?

Yes, Lighthouse offers an optional performance-based bonus each month, as outlined in our tutor handbook.

Question 10

Is this an employee position or independent contractor role?

Accepted Answer

This is an independent contractor role, which allows you to choose your availability while maintaining Lighthouse’s teaching standards.
