Understanding Memory and Learning Disabilities

The Catholic School Parents' Association (CSPA) is an independent volunteer parent organization that represents parents and elected school council members of the Ottawa Catholic School Board. We support school councils in their efforts to engage the parent community of each school. By partnering with administrative staff at the Ottawa Catholic School Board, we are able to keep school councils and families informed about educational issues affecting their school community.

Explore how memory challenges impact learning and daily life for children and youth with learning disabilities in this virtual session.

This experiential workshop is designed to give participants a better understanding of the different types of memory challenges (verbal, visual, and working memory). We will look at the impact memory challenges have on everyday life for children and youth with LDs (socially, emotionally and behaviourally).

Speaker BioRuby and Vivien are Child and Family Clinicians in the Learning Disabilities and Mental Health (LDMH) Program at the Child Development Institute. They support children and youth aged 8 to 18 by providing specialized mental health counselling services. Their therapeutic approaches are tailored to each child’s learning style, helping them better understand their learning disabilities, develop effective coping strategies, and build self-esteem and confidence.
