WiA Vancouver is proud to present an in-person panel in honor of diversity and inclusion in our Animation industry. This event will feature inspiring industry leaders, an interactive workshop, and opportunities to connect with our community.Key topics include the significance of representation and inclusion in the creative process, ongoing issues faced in entertainment/games/animation, and the role of allyship in fostering inclusivity. This event will promote engaging discussions, Q&amp;A opportunities, and community connection, finishing with a fun art project for all. PANEL SPEAKERSPatricia Atchison (she/her)Patricia Atchison is a Canadian artist with 25 years of experience in the animation industry. As a Story Artist, Art Director, and Production Designer with traditional and CG experience, Patricia has developed a versatile skill set, guiding multiple projects from initial concept design to final picture. With strong, collaborative leadership experience, she oversees large teams of artists across multiple departments to execute a shared vision.Following an Annie Award nomination for Best Production Design in an Animated Feature for her work on MGM's animated feature film THE ADDAMS FAMILY, Patricia is an Art Director at Cinesite, helping develop the new Smurfs feature film for Paramount Animation. Megan Danso (they/them)Megan Danso was born in Victoria, BC, and is of Ghanaian, Italian &amp; French heritage. Danso's credits include roles in TV series like "The Killing", "Supernatural", and "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce". Danso also portrays the character of "Denny", an alien-spiked teen in the hit science fiction series "Falling Skies", produced by Steven Spielberg. Danso can recently be seen in the third season of Freeform's "Siren" playing "Annie", a queer cop in training. Danso also recently voiced the role of "Kiki", a non-binary teen on the Nickelodeon show "Zokie of Planet Ruby", and is passionate about the importance of representation and inclusivity in media. Erica Miles (she/her)Erica Miles is an Animator and award-winning Animation Director living in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has worked on a number of exciting projects including the award-winning "Hilda", "101 Dalmatian Street", "Trollstopia", and "Young Love" for clients like Netflix, Disney, Dreamworks, and HBO Max. As a queer and late-recognized neurodivergent person, Erica has spent the last few years learning about the unique ways that her brain works, and about how important diverse minds and perspectives and in media. It has made her especially passionate about working on projects that put people from underrepresented backgrounds both on screen and behind the scenes to tell authentic stories. Erica was chosen as the Animation Director for the second iteration of the WIA A.C.E. Program and helped lead a talented team to bring the short film "Pivot" to life. She is currently working on a series for Disney at Atomic Cartoons, and when not animating can be found trying to learn all of the things about her many, many hobbies. Venessa Nyarko (she/her)Venessa is a Senior Story Producer for the "Gears of War" franchise, produced by Coalition Games, a flagship first-party studio for Xbox Games Studios. She believes Story to be a big umbrella of the development process, and as a Senior Story Producer, she's able to drive the elements and teams that craft immersive storytelling experiences. From the inception and ownership of Casting and Writing to the content teams that work to develop a cohesive narrative between Cinematics, Narrative Design, and In-Game Sequences, Venessa works with a phenomenal team of directors, leads, and content devs to bring great stories to life. MODERATORAdrienne Lindsay (she/her)Adrienne casts, directs, and produces voices for animation and video games. She's worked with clients like Nintendo, Mattel, Netflix, and Marvel, and recent credits include Cocomelon Lane, Resident Evil 4, and Strawberry Shortcake. She is Vancouver's go-to director for finding new talent, casting authentic voices, and directing kids. She believes Vancouver has the best voice talent in the world and loves finding new talent while bringing new voices out of even the most established actors!Adrienne is passionate about mentoring and opening doors for her PGM, queer, women, and gender-diverse colleagues in order to leave Vancouver's animation industry more inclusive than when she started in it. Her goal too, is to support as much representation in those producing and directing animation as there are in those watching it.
