Urban Beekeeping Immersive Experience

Troy Donovan, Resident BeekeeperReceiving his certification from the Edmonton District Beekeepers Association in May of 2015, Troy looks forward to connecting the MacEwan University community with the environment and encouraging interactions with nature. When he isn’t decked out in his beekeeper suit working the beehives on the roof, Troy can be found training for triathlons, making fresh bread for his family, or perfecting his speaking skills at Toastmasters. He enjoys being part of the beekeeping project as it expands and continues to raise awareness about the environment and strengthening connections with nature.Office of SustainabilityA campus bike plan. These are just a few of the activities spearheaded by the Office of Sustainability. We work closely with students, staff and faculty, supporting campus leaders to solve sustainability challenges. We empower individuals and groups to work toward social, environmental, economic and cultural sustainability.

<H2>Explore the amazing world of bees.</H2>
<P>Have you ever wanted to keep bees, or learn how it's done?</P>
<P>Join MacEwan University's Resident Beekeeper for an immersive experience with urban beekeeping!</P>
<P>This 3 hour session includes:</P>
<UL>
<LI>Beekeeping 101: a presentation to brush up your knowledge on honeybees, beekeeping tools, and the beekeeping season.</LI>
<LI>Hive inspections: get up close and personal in a full sized beekeepers suit.</LI>
<LI>Flow Hive harvest: extract the honey yourself!</LI>
</UL>
<P>Each participant will take home a jar of honey that they harvest. Taste the freshest honey you've ever had.</P>
<P>There will be plenty photo opportunities. </P>
