Rhythm & Blues exists to promote respectful, inclusive cultural engagement by providing quality programs, education, and mentoring to the Black community in Cambridge, Ontario. We foster partnerships with community groups and provide activities and events to encourage growth and development in our community.

Rhythm and Blues Cambridge

Join us virtually on Saturday, February 19th from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM as we are led through a yoga and meditation session facilitated by Selam Debs, Anti-Racism Educator and founder of Juici Yoga Studio in Waterloo. Selam will guide you through how to move out of the unconscious fight, flight and freeze state that we often spend the day in. We will build up some heat to get energy moving with the understanding that we hold our experiences, emotions, thought patterns and intergenerational trauma in our bodies. After building up some heat through movement and breath, we will practice ways of soothing and resting the body and the mind. This holistic practice will help you centre, de-stress, ground and activate your parasympathetic nervous system- responsible for our ability to access creativity, restoration, renewal and peace. Bring an open heart &amp; mind, two pillows, one blanket, water and dress comfortably. If you do not have a mat, no worries- you can lay down some blankets instead. Be ready to relax, breathe and let go. Rest is our birthright and this practice will be an invitation to anchor ourselves.
