The Institute for Community Prosperity is a hub of social innovation, systems-learning and community engagement that bridges the knowledge, wisdom and experience of community with academic learning and scholarly insight. Vivacity 2017 Showcase
Vivacity is an inter-institutional collaboration between six post-secondary institutions and Calgary Economic Development (CED). Vivacity engages interdisciplinary teams of students in the re-imagination, design, and activation of underutilized and vacant spaces in the city.
Join us on Wednesday, April 12th 2017 for the final phase of Vivacity’s Civic Innovation course , which will be showcased on the 26th floor of 150 9th Avenue SW, right across from The Palliser Hotel, in the heart of Calgary’s downtown core.
Throughout the semester, students immersed themselves in Calgary’s downtown while attending classes in one of Aspen Properties vacant office spaces. Over the past 3 months, students have been exploring, researching, testing, and prototyping new uses for vacant office space in the city’s downtown core. At the same time, students have engaged in important conversations about our city’s downtown at a Community Dialogue on January 26th and a World Café on March 7th.
Doors open at 5:00PM for you to join us as we celebrate Calgary’s downtown, along with our colleagues, partners, and supporters. Four student projects will be showcased: FORGE, 3RD SPACE, IRENIC, & ROOST and attendees will have an opportunity to tour the project spaces and vote for the venture with the most promise.
Please join us for a very special evening in which together, we will explore the work of a very talented and engaged group of students from diverse academic backgrounds and post-secondary institutions! The evening will be catered and beer & wine will be available for purchase. Your ticket also includes your voting password so that you can cast a ballot in support of your favourite project.
