<h1>Smash Art to Support the Arts!</h1>We're hosting a pop-up SMASH ARCADE on October 13 to raise funds for the VMF Emerging Artist program and we'd love to see you at the Cobalt for a night of smashing fun and a dance party!<h3>What is a Smash Arcade?</h3><h3>Imagine a mix between a rage room and a carnival where you get tickets to play different smash activities! There will be various breakable items, painted by artists, that you can demolish - all in the name of art!</h3>The VMF Emerging Artist Program provides artists hands-on experience, safety training, certifications, professional artist fees, and the opportunity to design and paint a mural for the first time.Out of 428 VMF artists, 158 (37%) are first time mural artists.Our goal is to continue supporting emerging or first-time mural artists represented at the festival by raising $68,715, which will directly benefit 5 emerging artists ($13,743 per artist mural) in the program.<h2>By purchasing a ticket, you are donating to the VMF Emerging Artist Program.</h2><h3>Will you help us reach our goal?</h3><ul><li><ul><li>When: October 13, 2023 // Event starts at 5:30 pm</li><li>Where: The Cobalt // 917 Main Street</li><li>Ticketed // 19+</li></ul></li></ul>Program<ul><li><ul><li>Smash Arcade: 5:30 - 7:30 pm</li><li>Learn about the Emerging Artist Program: 7:30 - 8:00 pm</li><li>Smash Arcade Finale: 8:00 - 8:30 pm</li><li>Dance Party: 8:30 - 2:00 am</li><li>DJs: <a href="https://bigpoppapump.bandcamp.com/album/pumpys-pack-vol-1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Big Poppa Pump</a> and <a href="https://marleau4mayor.bandcamp.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Marleau</a></li><li>Negroni specials all night!</li><li><a href="https://blazegourmetburgers.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Blaze Gourmet Burgers</a> until 9:00 pm</li></ul></li></ul>If you cannot attend, there is a ticket option to donate and help us spread the word to your friends, family, and colleagues. Stay tuned for more information about the evening’s program.<h3>How-to SMASH ARCADE:</h3>Step 1: When you arrive at The Cobalt, buy a roll of SMASH ARCADE tickets ($1 per ticket)Step 2: Use your tickets to buy a few “blank” objects to smash (bottles, boxes, old lawn furniture etc.)Step 3: Sit at the communal craft table to decorate your blank objectsStep 4: Make new friends while painting your masterpieceStep 5 (Optional): Buy an object that was pre-painted by a VMF Alumni artistStep 6 (Mandatory): Do a safety orientation with the SMASH ARCADE facilitatorsStep 7: Sign a waiver, and smash your creations in a variety of creative and safe methods. Smashing will take place in specified and supervised areas behind the SMASH ARCADE facilitatorsStep 8: Repeat as desired. Hey look! You are supporting the arts by smashing the arts.<h3>How does your donation support emerging artists?</h3>This event is a way for you to directly support these emerging artists who are dedicating their practice to the enhancement and transformation of our public spaces.Through the VMF Emerging Artist Program, artists can gain experience, training and the opportunity to paint a big beautiful mural that serves as a highly visible example of their work, which can help them get to the next level in their careers. As well, these murals add beauty and storytelling to the city’s walls.“Painting murals at VMF made it possible for me to start a full time art practice. When I describe VMF, I describe it as a launch pad. Also my painting partner now teaches art at UFV, as I was able to share what I had learned at VMF with her as she painted alongside me.
