We began as a photographic supply store founded by picture enthusiast Sam Wallack. In the mid-1950’s, Wallack’s expanded from the original narrow shop on Bank street into the empty store next to it to offer more selection of art and hobby supplies, as well as more display space for original art.When his son John Wallack came on board in 1963, the company expanded to include art supplies for an emerging Canadian arts scene. The need for a gallery became apparent and Wallack Galleries was launched in the 1950s. By 1965, the business was organized under different branches: the gallery was for acquisitions and sales, while the art-making and framing needs were supplied by the Wallack’s group of stores.In 1977, John Wallack moved the existing art material business to 231 Bank Street, which was originally Hartman’s grocery store. He also expanded the fine art gallery to its own location at 203 Bank Street.I﻿n 2024, Michael Wallack, son of John, moved the store to its current location at 305 Bank Street.For over 80 years, Wallack’s has been committed to supplying creative people with quality products at competitive prices. Come explore your creative side and be guided step-by-step through a beautiful watercolour painting. #watercolourworkshop

All skill levels are welcome to join this watercolour workshop, taught by local artist, Andrea Elena! You will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating this watercolour painting, and will learn a few of the basics of watercolour painting. No drawing skills are required as a trace image will be provided to keep the experience easy and accessible for beginners (however, those with more skill-level or desire for a challenge are of course welcome to draw as they wish). This is the ideal opportunity to learn how to paint with watercolour, and walk away with a little piece you can take home or gift! The learning environment is friendly, respectful, welcoming, and encouraging of self-expression.

MATERIALS Watercolour is a beautiful medium to explore your creativity, and learn more about painting. You may want to get the most of your experience by attending several of the scheduled workshops, and learn various different techniques. If this is of interest to you, you may want to consider getting your own materials that you can keep, and use from one workshop to the next. Wallack&#x27;s has a remarkable selection of materials to choose from, and they have all been carefully selected in consultation with artist and instructor, Andrea Elena.If you have your own materials, you are of course welcome to bring them. Or, if you prefer, you can choose to do a &quot;materials add-on&quot; upon registration - this will give you access to the materials prepared by the instructor (please note that aside from the paper you use, you will not be able to keep any of the other materials the instructor provides). If you do not select the &quot;materials add-on&quot; it will be assumed that you are arriving prepared with your own materials, or that you have purchased required materials from Wallacks in advance of the workshop.The list of materials i﻿f you are bringing your own (if you are missing something, don&#x27;t worry, we got you):<ul><li>2 x Watercolour Paper (9&quot;x12&quot;) - recommended papers available at Wallacks are: Arches Cold Press (10x14), Stonehenge (Cold Press block), Strathmore 500 (Cold Press, 5x7 sheets). The instructor will be using Fabriano Artistico Cold Press 90 lbs (9x12).</li><li>3 x Brushes: 1&quot; Flat, #3 or #4 Round, and #8 or #10 Round</li><li>2 x small containers for water (e.g. glass jars)</li><li>1 x White Gel Pen: Sakura Gelly Roll or any other fine tip white acrylic paint pen</li><li>Paper towel or cloth to dry your brushes</li><li>Plastic palette or large white plate (you need space for mixing colours)</li></ul><ul><li>Watercolour Paints - it is highly recommended that you use either Holbein or Winsor &amp; Newton paints for best results. Colours you will need are: </li></ul><ul><li>Raw Sienna, </li><li>Payne&#x27;s Grey</li><li>Black fine tip maker</li><li>1 x Masking Tape (1/2&quot;) - you will only be using a few pieces per workshop</li><li>1 x Masonite or MDF panel (9x12 or larger)</li></ul>
