Wellness at Work

The AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter was established eleven years ago and has grown to over 200 members strong. We serve professionals in the fundraising and not-for-profit sector throughout the Golden Horseshoe region, from Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Niagara, Kitchener-Waterloo, London and all points in between. Our mission is to provide fundraising professionals with opportunities to advance philanthropy through education, interaction, dialogue and sharing. We are a proud affiliate of AFP Global, which represents more than 35,000 members in 235 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs.

<p>Lots of leaders talk about wellness at work and ensuring our teams don’t suffer from burnout. But what are we really doing?</p><p>How often is Finance butting heads with Development? Marketing and Communications with Program Delivery? How often do you finish your workday shaking your head in disbelief? What happens when you bring that frustration into your home life? </p><p>What does a healthy organization look like in a time of considerable change? While we grapple with issues like decolonization, reconciliation, and equity – how do we create safe, inclusive workplaces?</p><p>Join Maryann Kerr as she discusses these issues and her latest book <a href="https://tarnished.ca" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tarnished: Let&#x27;s rethink, reimagine and co-create a new social impact sector.</a></p><p></p><p> <strong>Maryann Kerr</strong> has her masters in organizational leadership and is Chief Happiness Officer, and CEO with the Medalist Group. Maryann has worked In the social profit sector for 34 years and helped raise over $110M for small to mid-sized organizations. She has led at the local, provincial, national and international level and is passionate about her family, feminism, and continuous learning.</p><p>As a governance, leadership and culture specialist, Maryann knows successful organizations create and nurture a climate where everyone understands their role; politics are minimal; engagement is high and turnover low. Environments where employees co-create the roadmap to mission delivery. Compassion, kindness, and a deep commitment to collaborative and productive workplaces are core to her work.
