Wellness Fair

SECLA is an association of 11 community leagues in the general southeast (Capilano area) of Edmonton.

Healthy living and a healthy environment are the focus of this FREE event. There will be lots of information and interactional activities for families with kids and for adults of all ages.
Some of the guests providing information at the fair include:   -Alberta Health Services dietitians will share info about projects and services they have developed for communities, including the Sugar Shocker interactive display.  -Communities Choosewell - this is a provincial initiative of the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association that promotes and supports the development of programs, policies and partnerships that foster community wellness through active living and healthy eating.  -The City of Edmonton will have information about their programs such as the rain garden in a box and other LID (low impact development) practices we can implement in our neighbourhoods -Capilano Rehab will have a physiotherapist there to provide tips, along with a massage therapist to provide free chair massages.      -the Wild Bird General Store (a favourite of those who remember the live owl at the FTH Social in 2015), will bring all sorts of information about birds.    -the Edmonton Public Library will have a variety of fitness and wellness materials, info about upcoming programs, pedometers, and fun stuff for kids.       
These are just some of the guests at this event (for updates see SECLA.ca). We will also have supervised activities for the kids, glitter tattoos and a caricature artist. FOOD BANK donations welcome, including fresh garden produce.
There will be 2 food trucks at the event:Sizzling Stick: some of items: Snack (1 satay stick, rice, sauce) $5, Satay Sampler (3 sticks) $10. Explore India: items Vegetarian Samosas 2 for $5, Tacos $9, Butter Chicken $10.
Don’t forget your water bottle! You can refill it at the event. We will have five fitness instructors who will provide instruction as we try out different types of fitness classes: zumba, yoga, tai chi, boot camp and Hawaiian hula dance. There will be prize draws!

 What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Note: There is no on-street parking and the parking lot for the park is very small. The Capilano mall is across the street and there is another shopping mall adjacent to the park. Transit is fairly close, with the #1 Bus stop approximately a block away. The Capilano transit centre is just a little further away, located behind (south of) the Capilano mall. There is a bike rack at the park. 
  Are there washrooms?
 There are porta-potties on site.
