What is Intersectionality?

The Council for Advancement of African Canadians in Alberta (CAAC), operating as Africa Centre, was incorporated in 2006. We are the largest pan African non-profit organization in western Canada, serving as a community hub that provides programs and services from a place of cultural awareness and competency to the families in our diverse community.We acknowledge the diversity of our cultural background as a source of the strength that brings capacity and competencies to shape a thriving community in Alberta. We have a strong African indigenous cultural foundation incorporated across our programs and services.MissionWe strive to create opportunities for full access and participation of all Albertans in all aspects of society including economic, social, cultural and educational endeavours and contributes to the holistic development and wellness of individuals, family and community.

About iSMSS (Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services)The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies &amp; Services (iSMSS) is a non-profit organization and research institute housed in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. iSMSS provides educational programs and services to support the 2SLGBTQ+ community and its allies. Through our partnerships with various local Edmonton organizations such as the Pride Centre, LGBTQ+ Wellness Centre, and Altview we provide direct services from mental health support to 2SLGBTQ+ education to the community.About The Africa CentreCouncil of Advancement of African Canadians in Alberta (CAAC) operating as “Africa Centre” is a charitable organization based in the most northern city of the global north.
