Gerard Beirnehas been teaching writing for 25 yearswith a specialty in English Essay & Academic Writing– recently IT Sligo and 8 years at the University of New Brunswick (Canada) English/Creative Writing Dept. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing (USA) and has published 6 books of fiction and poetry.He is a past winner of the Hennessy New Irish Writer of the Year Award. His first novel was shortlisted for The Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award & his recent collection of stories for The Danuta Gleed Literary Award. He was nominated for the 2016 & 2017 Bord Gais Irish Book Awards. His short story, Sightings of Bono, was adapted as a short film featuring Bono.
