Join us for Write like a Girl, a fun in-person event celebrating bold, fearless writing by women!
Write Like a Girl is a FREE, welcoming, calming, and creative writing series designed to help women reconnect with their voice, build confidence in their writing, and explore the many ways words can be used to express who they are.
Led by Dr. Mary Johnson, a published author and teacher of modern fiction, this series gently introduces participants to the fundamentals of writing and storytelling, while also opening pathways into publishing.
With her guidance and lived experience as a writer, Dr. Johnson supports women in building trust in their creativity and confidence in their voice on the page.
This is a space for all forms of writing; prose, poetry, journaling, short stories, and experimental expression are all welcome. Each session builds on the last, gradually deepening skills, confidence, and creative exploration. While each class can stand alone, participants are invited to return and grow with the series over time.
The environment is intentionally soft and grounding: low lighting, a calm atmosphere, and tea served throughout. Participants are encouraged to settle into a cozy corner, follow gentle prompts, and write at their own pace, allowing their inner dialogue to unfold without pressure.
These sessions are free and open, designed to be accessible and inclusive. There is no expectation of perfection, no “right” way to write, and no experience required, only curiosity and a willingness to explore.
In this space, writing becomes an act of self-trust. Write Like a Girl is about discovering your voice, strengthening it over time, and learning that your words—exactly as they are—matter.
