Denise Walker is an Edmonton based Author & Meditation Teacher. She is the creator behind her company, 'Denise Speaks' and she teaches community meditation classes as part of the Lucid Yoga Collective. Words are her craft either written or spoken aloud.Her mission is to foster community while cultivating creativity.She is sober and much of her art comes from her personal experience with addiction and living in recovery. She is passionate about pushing the ceiling on healing and is always looking to deepen her self-exploration. Her bodies of work include dystopian thriller 'Cedar Valley', Addiction & Recovery Poetry collection: 'Pick Your Poison' Vol I & II, and sobriety podcast: Detox Podcast.

Write & Rise is a two-hour poetry workshop designed to help you tap into your innate creativity. This workshop is open to all levels of writing experience—first-time poets are especially welcome! Even if you wouldn't consider yourself "creative" or "artsy", given the right circumstances, you'll be surprised by the beauty contained within you. All you'll need is a pen, some paper, and an attitude of openness. 
Please note that this workshop is floor seating only—there are mats/cushions/bolsters for your comfort but there are no chairs in the studio. Also, Lucid Yoga is located up one flight of stairs. Parking: Paid Street Parking & Impark Lots surround the area. Bay/Enterprise Square LRT Station is 3 blocks away.
