Canada's oldest university botanic garden, UBC Botanical Garden was established in 1916 under the directorship of John Davidson, British Columbia's first provincial botanist. The original mission of the Garden was research into the native flora of British Columbia.Over the pastcentury, the mission of UBC Botanical Garden has broadened to include research, conservation, teaching and public display of temperate plants from around the world, particularly Asian, alpine and native plants.

Date and Time: Thursday August 18, 2016.  6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Instructor: Celeste Snowber, UBC Botanical Garden Artist in Residence Location: UBC Botanical Garden, 6804 SW Marine Drive Cost: $22/Garden members & concession*, $25/public Prices include GST; does not include eventbrite fees. Concession = Youth (13-17), UNA Residents, UBC Students, UBC Faculty, UBC Staff, Seniors (65+). 
Description: Explore the Garden with UBC Botanical Garden Artist in Residence Celeste Snowber and practice writing in nature. 
Important Notes: Bring a paper and pen, and wear clothing and shoes appropriate for walking and all weather.

Author of Embodied prayer and co-author of Landscapes of aesthetic education, she has written extensively in the area of embodied ways of inquiry and continues to create site-specific performances in the natural world. Her most recent book of poetry is Wild tourist and she is working on several poetry collections, which explore connections between ecology and the arts. Celeste lives outside Vancouver, B.C and is a mother of three amazing adult sons. Her website can be found at www.celestesnowber.com and blog is www.bodypsalms.com. 
Cancellation & Refund Policies: UBC Botanical Garden reserves the right to cancel any workshop or reduce the number of instructional hours, should the class not reach 25% capacity 5 days before the class. In the event that a course is cancelled, UBC Botanical Garden will offer the option of transferring to another course, or obtaining a full refund.  All cancellations must be made at least 5 working days before the start of the course by contacting <A HREF="mailto:garden.programs@ubc.ca" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">garden.programs@ubc.ca</A>. A $15 processing fee is charged for cancellations. There is no fee for transferring the registration to another person.
