YPAC’s Mission is toBe a Canada-wide network of pipeline professionals focused on attracting and retaining young people to this industry.Provide opportunities for young individuals to learn the breadth and depth of the industry.Facilitate passing technical/engineering knowledge from mature to young pipeliners, and, as a result, build a positive future for Canada’s pipeline industry.YPAC envisions young Canadians educated and properly informed about the pipeline industry. Our members work to educate and engage young Canadians interested in the pipeline industry by: promoting the pipeline industry, upholding safe and reliable operations in the pipeline industry, providing networking opportunities between other pipelining peers, and assisting the pipeline industry in educating the public on the necessity of the pipeline industry.

Program OverviewThe Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC), Beaver Drilling and the U of C have joined forces to relaunch the Avatar Program June 19, 2020 over a period of 6 virtual sessions held over the summer connected in-between through real-world, new energy future Action Learning Projects. As a participant you will not only have the chance to sit and learn from some of the industry’s most senior leadership, but you will also be tasked with building business cases with expert business supervision and coaches to create energy projects that can receive approval, receive budgets and be implemented. All the participants will be assigned to a team, an Action Learning Project. There will be 5 subject groups the participants will work through during the program:<ol><li>Hydrogen in the New Energy Future</li><li>Carbon Trunk Lines &amp; Sequestration</li><li>Digitization in Oil &amp; Gas</li><li>Innovative Pipeline Construction Techniques &amp; Trenchless Crossings</li><li>Energy Advocacy </li></ol>Program FormatThe Program will take place over the course of 6- 2-hour virtual training sessions. The goal of these sessions is to bring in the industry’s most senior leaders to frame the business cases and coach the participants along.Sessions will be held from 1-3pm MST on: June 19, June 26, July 10, July 17, July 24 &amp; August 7. The following topics will be covered:June 19: Energy Leadership in a Brave New World: Deborah Yedlin, Chancellor, University of Calgary &amp; Kevin Krausert, President &amp; CEO, Beaver Drilling &amp; Molly Beckel, President, YPAC.June 26: Post-Pandemic Energy Economics: Peter Tertzakian, Executive Director, ARC Energy Research Institute.July 10: Entrepreneurship in the New Energy Future: Iggy Domagalski, CEO, Tundra Processing Solutions.July 17: Technology as a Transformational Business: George Whitesides, CEO, Virgin Galactic &amp; Chris Foster, VP Information Services &amp; Chief Information officer, TC Energy &amp; Bhushan Ivaturi, Chief Information Officer, Enbridge.July 24: Navigating the Energy Regulatory Landscape: Announcement coming soon!August 7: 1, 2 ,3… BLAST OFF: Program Participants present their Action Learning Projects to an industry wide audience for implementation. Judges: Todd Hirsch, Chief Economist, Alberta Treasury Branch; Michael Crothers, Canada Country Chair, Royal Dutch Shell; Joy Romero, Chair, Clean Resource Innovation Network; Michelle Kisil, Acting Vice-President, Canada Region, Baker Hughes. Program RegistrationParticipation is limited, and program participants will be chosen based on the quality of their application. Successful participants will be contacted on June 16th and be given a short survey in which they will rank their choices for Action Learning Project participation. This information will be used to put participants into groups and participants will be informed on their groups prior to the June 19th start. Participants will also be sent a link to the Zoom meeting to be used for each of the sessions.Cost: $50 (Participants who are not selected to be part of the program will receive a full refund)Application Deadline: June 12thApplication Criteria:<ul><li>Minimum 2-year Energy Industry experience</li><li>Must be a YPAC member (if you are not a member, its free and you can sign-up <a href="https://ypacanada.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>)</li><li>Attendance in all sessions and completion of assigned Action Learning Project (ALP) is required</li></ul>Upon successful completion of the program, YPAC x AVATAR will issue each participant a Certificate of Completion.
