City of Mississauga Parks and Forestry

Join the City of Mississauga and partners for the annual One Million Trees Earth Day Celebration. This year, we are celebrating the first five years of the One Million Trees program. We will be planting native trees and shrubs, along with other hands-on environmental activities at three Mississauga parks. Come out and help us kick-off our 2018 tree planting season!

Event partners include: Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) and Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA).

All three events will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. See individual event pages for a detailed event schedule for each of the three parks where Earth Day activities are being hosted.

You can sign up for the event close to home or sign up for the event’s flagship site at Glen Eden Park in Ward 9 where there will be exhibitor booths, a “Trees, Trails and Tales” walk hosted by LEAF and City Forestry staff, an urban agriculture activity hosted by Ecosource, an Earth Day craft and of course, tree planting!

Event Locations:

Ward 3- Allison’s Park hosted by Toronto and Region Conservation (575 Willowbank Trail)

Ward 8- Arbour Green hosted by Credit Valley Conservation (4145 Treetop Crescent)

Ward 9- Glen Eden Park flagship site hosted by City of Mississauga (7230 Copenhagen Road)

Go-green on your way to the Earth Day celebrations! Take the bus, walk or cycle to the tree planting event in your community. Find out what bus will get you there using the MiWay “Plan a Trip” tool here: http://www4.mississauga.ca/planatrip/

One Million Trees is a 20-year program to encourage residents, schools, community groups and businesses to join the City’s tree planting efforts to plant more trees on both public and private lands in Mississauga. Trees planted at this event will be counted towards our One Million Trees goal! To date, over 280,000 trees and shrubs have been planted with the help of volunteers such as yourselves. We’re well on our way to one million! This Earth Day, we will be adding 650 trees and shrubs to our total.
