Niagara Geopark

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences and Culture. UNESCO plays a unique role in strengthening the foundations of lasting peace and equitable and sustainable development.

UNESCO Global Geoparks are non-regulatory entities that recognize places with unique geology, landscapes, history, and culture and are managed with a holistic concept that focuses on education, conservation, and community engagement.

By raising awareness of the importance of the area’s geological heritage, UNESCO Global Geoparks give local people a sense of pride in their region and strengthen their identification with the area.
