Nova Scotia Nonprofit COVID-19 Coalition
Nova Scotia’s nonprofit, volunteer and nonprofit social enterprise sectors are a vital part of the fabric of our communities. Perhaps more than ever, we see the difference our more than 6,000 organizations and 20,000 staff are making as we together face the challenges of COVID-19.
In March 2020, nonprofit leaders came together to form the Nova Scotia Nonprofit COVID-19 Coalition. Their collective goal is to support, champion, and celebrate this valued sector as long as COVID-19 is with us and afterwards as we work to rebuild.
This team of leaders came together to engage a larger network of organizations that share a common goal, helping non-profit, voluntary and social enterprise organizations help their clients and communities. We call them the Founders.
Our Coalition has two primary areas of focus:
- Work as a hub to identify resources, facilitate connections and harvest knowledge from across the sector, government and the private sector to help nonprofit, volunteer and nonprofit social enterprise organizations navigate the complexities and challenges brought on by COVID-19.
- Foster innovation and bold new ideas that will create positive, sustainable change in a sector that employs more than 20,000 employees and contributes $1 billion GDP to the provincial economy.
