Description

Ideas into Action: fulfilling our vision

Join us for the 4th annual conference inspired by the successes and continued work resulting from Langara's Academic Plan. Once again we have partnered with the Langara Foundation to support the Community Cupboard. Cash donations and non-perishable food items will be accepted at the Student Engagement Kiosk throughout the conference. Donations can also be made online. Visit the Langara Foundation webpage and select "Community Cupboard" under the Direct My Gift To field.

Day 1 of the fourth annual conference will kick off with keynote speaker Dr. Jo-ann Archibald, followed by several sessions organized by the Academic Plan Action Groups (APAGs).

Dr. Jo-ann Archibald - Jo-ann Archibald Q’um Q’um Xiiem, from the Sto:lo and St’at’imc First Nations in British Columbia, is Professor Emeritus in the Educational Studies Department at the UBC Faculty of Education and is the recent recipient of the Order of Canada in recognition of her notable work in Indigenous education.

Day 2 will begin with morning sessions at Langara and move off-site to the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Musqueam Cultural Centre for lunch, a cultural performance, and a walking tour (see the FAQ below for details). This year, the Musqueam honoured Langara with the raising of our house post which, “represents our deepening relationship with xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Musqueam and commits us to continue to work toward a brighter future in partnership," Rick Ouellet, Director, Indigenous Education and Services. The afternoon events of Day 2 situated at Musqueam provide the opportunity for us to learn more about the history of the land on which the college sits and its relationship with Musqueam.
