Garden City Grooves Opening Night

Thursday September 25th, Garden City Grooves 2014 kicks off with a bang at Lucky Bar (9pm-2am) with two local supergroups, Downtown Mischief and The Leg-Up Program. Both of these large musical collectives include dynamic horn sections, hip hop MCs and funk for days. Their incredible energy is unparalleled amongst local bands. Local DJs Stanley the Bugman and DJ Perks fill in the gaps with some funky beats to keep the dancefloor going all night long.

Downtown Mischief:
There is fresh, then there is universally fresh. These young swanky hooligans first recognized each other's presences and personas through the rhythmic vibrations of the Jungle Shack in 2012. Sharing interests in mycelium, music and happiness, a covalent bond was created between the fellows, and they quickly began swapping tunes, grooves, and waves. And these were not solely of the auditory nature. Downtown Mischief is a funky collective of up to 15 musicians playing infections dance grooves to make you move.

The Leg-Up Program:
The Leg-Up Program is a hip-hop funk rock soul orchestra/band and musical collective made up of over 20 local musicians and based in Victoria, BC. Their goal is to further their musical experience and understanding while creating sounds that seduce, harmonies that hypnotize, melodies that mesmerize and to provoke thought, address social issues and have a really good time.
