Truth and Reconciliation Commission Final Report

The event will mark the end of the Commission’s six year mandate. The Commission is a component of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement. Its job is to inform all Canadians about what happened in Indian Residential Schools (IRS) and document the truth of survivors, families, communities and anyone personally affected by the IRS experience.

This includes First Nations, Inuit and Métis former Indian Residential School students, their families, communities, the Churches, former school employees, Government and other Canadians. The Commission has a six-year mandate and is supported by a TRC Secretariat, which is a federal government department. Le mandat de la CVR est d'informer tous les Canadiens de ce qui s'est passé dans les pensionnats indiens. La CVR documentera les témoignages des survivants, des familles, des collectivités et de toutes les personnes affectées personnellement par l'expérience des pensionnats indiens, y compris les anciens pensionnaires inuits, métis et membres des Premières nations, ainsi que leur famille, leur collectivité, les représentants des différentes églises, les anciens employés des pensionnats, le gouvernement et d'autres Canadiens.
