This year’s focus for The Richmond Hospital Department of Psychiatry’s annual educational workshop will be CBT for Personality Disorders: Basics and Beyond. Our distinguished speaker will be Judith Beck, PhD, Distinguished Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania.

Course goals and Learning objectives:

As a result of attending the program, the participant will learn how to educate patients about their beliefs and to test and modify rigid thinking patterns.

As a result of attending specific sessions, the participant will be able to:

(1) Conceptualize personality disorder patients according to the cognitive model;
(2) Develop a strong therapeutic alliance;
(3) Guide patients in setting goals
(4) Explain core beliefs to patients;
(5) Use specialized techniques to modify beliefs
