A Day in the life of a Legal Executive
With CILEX being offered both at UG and PG level at Portsmouth more law students are considering a career as a legal executive. Susanne Holiday is a LE practising in the area of family and employment law. This session will give students an insight into a LE's work and where the career can take you.
Susanne is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and has been working in professional legal practice since 1991 and has prior legal experience being a criminal and licencing magistrate. Her aim is to help parties resolve conflicts arising from the breakdown of their relationship regarding their property and/or children issues. Further, she seeks to prevent future conflict by advising on Cohabitation Agreements, Declarations of Trust and Pre-Marital Agreements. She encourages parties to resolve matters by negotiation and by using such tools as mediation and collaborative law to settle matters. Susanne also advises both small local businesses and international companies on how to avoid conflict situations which could result in Employment Tribunal applications. Family Law including Cohabitation Agreements and Applications under the Trust of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act; Pre-Marital Agreements, Deeds of Separation and Divorce; Domestic Violence and Occupation Orders; private Children Act Applications regarding Residence, Contact and Prohibitive Steps Orders. Employment Law including acting for the Employee and Employer, advising on Settlement Agreements and Employment Tribunal matters for the Claimants and Respondents and advising as to how to prevent such applications Susanne’s interests are architecture, cooking, photography, travel and wine but not necessarily in that order!
