A NEW REALITY: Tech summit for girls from marginalised communities in New York City, Saturday, August 18th. Presented by Wofemtech Solutions & ForUsGirls Foundation hosted by SAP Next-Gen #SheInnovates community in support of UN Women and sponsoted by ThinkSYS Inc. This FREE full day summit starts with registration at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Breakfast and Lunch provided for girls grades 6 to grades 10.

The summit goal is to spark innovative creativity in the minds of young marginalized girls from NYC communities to consider careers in STEM. Currently, black women and women of color represent less than 9% of Apple employees, 4% of at Facebook, and less than 4% at Google (techcrunch). The urgency and focus on girls of color in tech is high and necessary.

The summit allows marginalized girls to vision themselves in spaces and careers traditionally not accessible to them.

This interactive, stimulating, and high-energy summit will expose girls to the latest tech & digital trends in blockchain, A.I., multi-media, gaming, and robotics.

A NEW REALITY participants (girls grades 6 to grade 10) will select 1 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Global Goals to create an app or software prototype solution to a challenge in their community using Design Thinking. These young leaders will have the opportunity connect, build, and engage with the industry's leading professional, entrepreneurs, leaders and mentors.

LaJuné, "I'm a Queer, Genderfluid, Black, Femme, New Media Artist, Maker, and Creative Technologist living in New York."

"I am dedicated to making art abstracted from my personal experiences. I have created pieces that integrate performance, virtual reality, and physical computing to question our current use of technology and forms of communication. My art is part of my research centered around creating Technology and Mediums that are inherently intersectional allowing communities that have ignored to have a space to be recognized, loved, accepted and heard. Most of my work is about interconnection, and experiencing life beyond the material world.

I have had the opportunity to show and speak about my work at, Dance on Camera at Lincoln Center, MakerFaire, National Sawdust, Liberty Science Center, Chelsea Film Festival, Creative Tech Week and Weird Reality. I am also the Lead Character Animator for NeuroSpeculative Afrofeminism which premiered at Sundance Film Festival and is currently touring at festivals including SXSW and Tribeca Film Festival."

We're looking forward to a transformative digital experience for the next community & global tech leaders!
