The Advertising Association of Winnipeg (AAW) has a rich history, dating back to its inception in 1944. Originally known as the Winnipeg Sales and Ad Club, its primary mission was to cultivate a sense of camaraderie and facilitate professional growth within the sales and advertising sectors of Winnipeg.

Recognizing the shifting landscape, the organization underwent a pivotal transformation in 1980, rebranding itself as the Advertising Club of Winnipeg. This name change better reflected its deep-rooted connection to the world of advertising.

In 1988, to further underscore its commitment to the advertising industry and accommodate its expanding range of activities, the organization adopted its current name, the Advertising Association of Winnipeg (AAW). This change marked a significant moment in the association’s history, emphasizing its enduring dedication to fostering excellence and innovation within the advertising sector, all while maintaining its tradition of nurturing a sense of community among its members.

Today, AAW stands as a prominent force in the advertising landscape, uniting professionals & promoting excellence in Winnipeg’s ever-evolving marketing and advertising arena. AAW hosts three flagship events annually: The Signature Awards, Digital Marketing Day, and Cannes Lions Screening. As a member-based organization, it brings together advertising and marketing professionals for professional development, networking, and fellowship.
