Event description

Description

This comprehensive, two-day instructor training offers a broad conceptual framework for effective suicide prevention strategies both from the individual client and systemic perspective. Participants will examine current research as well as best practices including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and solution-focused interventions for those at risk of suicide. Participants will have opportunities to explore the impacts of therapeutic rapport, review current risk assessment models and create safety plans for suicide prevention. This training also addresses the developmental needs of adolescents and explores the potentially detrimental interactions of adolescent development and risk. Finally, it will explore research related to contagion and provide both a clinical and community-based framework for post-intervention responses.

This one day session will be offered in Cobourg on May 29-30, 2019 at the Columbus Community Centre (232 spencer Street East, Cobourg K9A 1C5). The session will run from 9:00am - 5:00pm local time, both days. There is no cost associated with this training. Please arrive early for sign-in. Meals and beverages will not be provided at this training.
