    Bruce Chow, CFP, CIM
    Vice President, Investment Counselling, Canada Life

    Bruce has been with Canada Life since June 2006 and has been in the financial services industry since 1996.

    In his role, he provides investment support to our group capital accumulation plan, defined benefit pension plan, community foundations and endowments, and reserve account clients and advisors and consultants in B.C. and Alberta. He understands the needs of institutional clients and provides fund reviews and recommendations, as well as strategic and tactical asset mix management, and is available to discuss global markets, their economies and how they relate to the performance of the portfolios.

    Bruce began his career with Mackenzie Financial during RRSP season 1996. From there he honed his client servicing and inside sales skills with GGOF where he was part of the Client Service team that received the 2000 Dalbar Mutual Fund client service team of the year award. Then from 2000 to 2005, Bruce honed his marketing and inside sales skills with Synergy Asset Management & Sentry Investments, where exposure to cutting edge Portfolio Management, Principal Protected Notes & Income Trusts have helped shaped his overall perspective of investment products. In 2006, he landed with Canada Life’s BC Regional Marketing team where he’s built numerous relationships in the independent MGA, National Account & Advisor Solution channels in his current capacity of Regional Sales Manager, wealth.

    Born and raised in British Columbia, Bruce graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) with a Diploma of Finance. In 2000, he also earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from BCIT as well, Bruce completed the Canadian Securities Course (honours), and the Conduct and Practices Handbook. During his professional career he’s earned the Certified Financial Planners designation in 2013 and most recently in 2018 earned his Chartered Investment Management designation as well as the Partners, Directors & Officers Certificate in 2023.

    Jason Vary, FSA, FCIA
    President, Actuarial Solutions Inc.

    Jason Vary, President of Actuarial Solutions Inc., has practiced in defined benefit pension and retiree health plans for over twenty-five years. He has experience with many plan designs including single-employer, multi-employer, jointly-sponsored, private sector, government, unionized, non-unionized, as well as registered and non-registered executive plans. Jason joined Actuarial Solutions Inc. in 2006 and is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries. Jason is an active volunteer with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, the International Actuarial Association, and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario.

    Barbara Martinez
    National Practice Leader, Drug Solutions, Canada Life

    As the National Practice Leader, Drug Solutions in Canada Life’s Toronto Office, Barbara A. Martinez supports sales offices across Canada on prescription drug management initiatives. She plays a key role in supporting advisors and their clients, including designing and managing drug benefit plans with Canada Life Drug plan management programs. Barbara joined Canada Life in 2012 after 10 years at Mercer, where she led the Canadian drug benefits consulting team. She’s a regular speaker at industry forums and a frequent commentator on employer drug programs. Her experience also includes 13 years in the pharmaceutical industry, where she worked in sales and marketing as well as government and professional affairs.

    Ilana Korble
    Organizational Health Consultant, Business Development, Canada Life

    Ilana Korble has nearly 30 years of experience in the field of Disability Management and Organizational Health. Ilana joined Canada Life in 1997, initially as a Rehabilitation Consultant and transitioning in 2010 into a leadership role in Disability field operations. In her current role as an Organizational Health Consultant at Canada Life, Ilana is dedicated to identifying and addressing the disability and wellness needs of numerous organizations and industries. She focuses on understanding the unique health needs and absence risk areas of an organization and delivering services tailored to control rising health costs and absenteeism trends. Canada Life’s Organizational Health Team plays an integral role in supporting the financial, physical and mental well-being of millions of Canadians. Ilana is a Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Consultant, (CCRC), and is working towards a Mindful Leader designation through Mindful Employer Canada.
