AFP NL's Fundraising Day aims to inspire fund development professionals in our province to develop deeper connections with loyal donors and constituents by offering them more strategic involvement within the organization and its mission.

Our goal is for everyone to walk away from Fundraising Day with a plan to be more strategic in everything they do.

*Please note that refunds for cancellations will only be offered until May 23rd, 2018*

Early bird registration until May 7th for a chance to win a one-on-one strategy session with Fraser Green!

Agenda

8:30-9:00: Breakfast with the Merb’ys and Spirit Horse NL

9:00-10:15: The Mysterious 3-Brained Donor, with Fraser Green

With the advent of brain imaging in the 1990s, we have unleashed a flood of knowledge about how the human brain actually works. And, it turns out that we behave and decide a LOT differently than we think we do! In this lively session, Fraser will talk about the snake brain, the heart brain and the computer brain - and how all three participate in making that all-important decision: the decision to give!

10:15-10:30: Technology Break

10:30-12:30: Roundtable Workshop Sessions

These workshop discussions will allow you to brainstorm and generate ideas for your organizations in working groups lead by local fundraising leaders. Focusing on creative ideas and strategies, we will discuss public relations for charities, using social media as a fundraising tool, writing winning proposals, and growing your major giving program.

12:30-2:00: Lunch and Speaker Panel on Diversifying Revenue Sources

This panel discussion will take an alternative look at revenue generation for charities, focusing on social enterprise opportunities and partnerships that are about more than just philanthropy.

2:00-2:15: Annual General Meeting

2:15-2:30: Technology Break

2:30-4:00: The Art of Persuasion, with Fraser Green

As fundraisers, we’re all communicators – or at least we should be! But how well do we really understand what communications really is and how it works. And more than that, how well (if at all) do we understand the science of persuasion. Join Fraser Green as he shares both the art and the science of great communication and effective persuasion.

Fraser Green - Bio

Fraser Green is widely considered one of Canada’s most strategic and creative thinkers in the fundraising sector today. Fraser is the Chief Strategist and Smartypants at Good Works – a consulting firm that propels charities to build deeper relationships with loyal donors and constituents.

Fraser is a gifted communicator whose books, articles, blogs and contrarian rants are widely read around by fundraisers and CEOs around the world. Fraser is a gifted speaker – and has presented sessions and plenary addresses at hundreds of fundraising conferences in Canada, the USA and Europe.

Fraser is a self-confessed ‘donor research freak’. He believes deeply that creating a superb donor experience is the key to great fundraising – and that listening carefully to donors is all important first step in doing so.

When he’s not staring at his laptop, Fraser loves to bike and ski, bend his body into ridiculous yoga postures, play his guitars and generally explore the world around him. One of these days he’s going to be a great songwriter and a half-assed novelist.
