Art & Music: Celebrating the JUNOS in London
Opening Reception
Wednesday, February 13
Doors 7pm
In celebration of the 2019 JUNO Awards coming to London, Museum London, in partnership with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and the 2019 JUNO Host Committee, will be exhibiting FOUR music-related exhibitions. This opening reception is open to the public, free to attend, and wheelchair accessible.
The "Art is Art", "JUNO Photography Exhibition", "Polaris Music Prize Posters", and "Women to the Front" exhibitions will feature visual art based on and created by Canadian musicians that will be on display before, during, and after JUNO Week 2019 (March 11 to 17). This is a great chance for Londoners to get up close and personal with the visual and artistic side of the Canadian music world and serves as a complement to the JUNO festivities.

Highlighting the synergy between visual art and music, Art is Art showcases the visual art practices of prominent Canadian recording artists. Commissioned by CARAS in 2017, this exhibition encourages its participants to explore the extensive manifestations of artistic energy. Whether crafting a song or painting a portrait, the creative core is similar. Art is art - and this collection celebrates the creative connection between these two disciplinary fields.
Polaris Music Prize PostersAs a sister organization, CARAS/The JUNO Awards are proud to support the Polaris Music Prize; rewarding artists who produce Canadian music albums of distinction. Illustrators are commissioned yearly to produce artwork in the spirit of gig posters for the year’s shortlisted albums. Come see posters of the 13 winning albums.
Women to the Front This exhibition pays respect to voices that are often missing from the story of the Canadian music industry. The influence of Canadian women in music is indisputable as they continue to dominate the charts, break records, and innovate. Take a look inside the layered and complex world of being a female in the music industry. This exhibition is presented in partnership with the 2019 JUNO Host Committee. Who invited women to the front? The women.
