The event will be held at BDO Canada, and feature keynote speakers Kim Watt and Derek Shama.

Kim had an exciting career that extended over 33 years. She started her career as a keypunch operator\bookkeeper in the accounting department and retired as BDO Canada’s first CIO.

Kim was responsible for collaborating with the business leaders that would help deliver technology to advance the business. Kim led a team of over 100 people across Canada and was overall responsible for the IT strategic direction for BDO across 150 offices and 4500 partners and staff. We are ecstatic to have Kim with us as she shares her journey as a woman in technology.

Derek's industry experience dates back prior to 2000. Today he is sparkAV's champion of Customer Service, as well as their Chief Executive, but before this, he rose through the ranks in both financial services and fashion. Since sparkAV inception, Derek has worked to grow the company into Canada's leading ProAV design and integration organization. In large part, this was accomplished by holding true to a basic core value - treat people with respect and help them achieve their goals.

Derek holds P&L responsibility for sparkAV, while also working closely with our key customers. He personally oversees the customer satisfaction for all projects, and does so by always staying in close contact with our administration and project fulfillment teams. While Derek also occupies an operational role, he is truly passionate about working with customers; getting out there and meeting new people and organizations, so that sparkAV can help them achieve their technology objectives, always brings a smile to his face. Derek is passionate about sparkAV, and he is not afraid to take challenges, especially if it leads to finding new and meaningful solutions for sparkAV to offer to its customers. Derek always goes the extra mile to make sure that working with sparkAV is the most positive and enjoyable experience possible.
