The name AWANA is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 (“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”) and is an acrostic meaning Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. AWANA is entered around the gospel and has a high scripture content. The two components to AWANA are discipleship, which happens through scripture memorization both at home and at club, and evangelism as we strongly encourage children to invite their friends.

Program Start Date and End Dates

All leaders (adults, Trek and Journey) are required to attend Awana Training on September 7th at 6:30pm.

Every Thursday, September 21, 2023 to December 7, 2023, 6:30-8:00 pm 

Every Thursday, January 12, 2024 to May 9, 2024, 6:30-8:00 pm

FAQ

1. How do I know what supplies my child needs for the Awana program?

Once you have registered your child here, you will receive an itemized invoice from us listing all the materials you will need for this year. Materials and supplies can be purchased through our Awana Materials 2023/2024 Eventbrite link. Common supplies for the program include the handbook and the uniform.

2. Does my child need a new uniform?

If your child is new to Awana, they will need a new uniform or if they are in a new age group. Cubbies, Sparks, T&T, Trek and Journey keep the same uniform through-out their time in the programs.

3. Does my child need a new handbook? 

If your child is new to Awana, they will need a new handbook with the exception of Puggles who do not need a book. All children in Kindergarten to Grade 2 will continue in a previous handbook if they did not complete it. However, all T&T kids will work on the same handbook with one section per week.

4. As a parent, what is required of me?

Every registering family must provide a weekly adult volunteer that attends Centre Street Church. Also as a parent you need to commit to bring your child weekly to AWANA, and being intentional about helping your child complete the handbook sections which can include Bible verse memorization, review or questions. Not only do we want your children to experience discipleship, but we want to help set them up to succeed when it comes to learning God’s truths found directly in His Word.

5. I want to register my kids for Awana but I do not attend Centre Street church?

Please contact the Awana Ministry Director at cscawana@cschurch.ca. One option is to attend a mid-week discipleship group so you can register your kids for Awana. However, before registering please ensure that you contact the Ministry Director to discuss.

6. Can I get a refund if I choose not to attend?

Unfortunately we can not refund you your money once your registration is complete. When we process your registration form we count on those funds when making orders to AWANA for club supplies.
