Bioeconomy Investment Forum
Welcome to the Bioeconomy Investment Forum. Join us at Mosaic Stadium's AGT Lounge for a day filled with insightful discussions, networking opportunities and potential investment prospects in the bioeconomy sector.
Economic Development Regina (EDR) is inviting organizations to participate in EDR’s inaugural Bioeconomy Investment Forum. This exclusive, invite-only event will bring together industry leaders, innovators, investors and government to explore the trends, technologies and opportunities in the rapidly growing bioeconomy sector in the Greater Regina Area (GRA) of Saskatchewan.
Biomass is a valuable resource and commodity used in the production of energy and various manufactured goods. Derived from the organic materials of plants and animals, the global market value for the bioeconomy is astounding – the biofuel market alone is estimated to exceed $391B by 2030, presenting itself as a major contributor to the GRA’s and Saskatchewan’s future economy.
The biomass economy in the Greater Regina Area (GRA) will be a significant contributor to the economy for various reasons. Geographically, the GRA is at the epicentre of a 200km region that produces over 15M tonnes of agricultural biomass annually. By 2027, the biomass opportunity will be a $1.8B industry for the GRA. This is significant as biomass would represent, in brief:
· 6.1% of the GRA’s total economic activity
· $625M of the GRA’s GDP
· 4,150 jobs for local residents (1 out of every 33 jobs in the GRA)
The Bioeconomy Investment Forum will see EDR share insight into recent research and market analysis, feature companies active and interested in the industry and be the stage for key announcements to advance the sector. Attendees will receive knowledge firsthand as well as an information package outlining research results and ways stakeholders can participate in building a home for future investment into the bioeconomy in the GRA and Saskatchewan.
