Event description
A half-day update on important topics affecting the Canadian charity and non-profit sector.

About this Event

Every year Blumbergs has its Blumbergs’ Canadian Charity Law Institute.  This year we will be doing a "mini-institute" – very virtual, much shorter and more affordable but covering a number of topics that are of concern to Canadian charities.  So please join us on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, for the 9th Blumbergs' Canadian Charity Law Insititute.  Registration and introductions will begin at 12:30 EST and the Institute will run until 4PM EST.

We will be covering a number of different topics tentatively including the following:

  • State of the Sector and Impact of COVID
  • ONCA update
  • Update on the CNCA and maintaining a CNCA corporation
  • The We Charity Controversy
  • Racism and the Canadian Charity Sector
  • Transparency – a little effort can save you a lot of time and headaches
  • Political activities and Lobbyist registration
  • What is New with the Charities Directorate of the CRA?

It will be a half-day of practical legal and ethical compliance information geared toward charities, professional advisors and those interested in regulatory issues affecting charities and the non-profit sector.    The price is $75 for the day.  There is an early bird special until September 21, 2020 of $49.

The event will be recorded for those who cannot watch on the day of the event and it will be available for up to one month after the event.

If you have questions please call Daniela Campos at 416-361-1982 extension 252 or e-mail daniela@blumbergs.ca
