In these workshops, students will develop skills in drawing plants and flowers from observation. Using various drawing materials such as graphite pencil, pen and ink, coloured pencil and watercolour pencil, students will explore basic drawing techniques of line drawing, shading, stippling, textural drawing, and more. While students can choose their own plants, the instructor will use wild plants from the West Coast Botanical, such as wild roses, oregon grapes, salal, ferns, cattails, and also leaves from trees, such as maple, cedar, and red alder. The instructor will use these plants for step by step demonstrations. Students can also use photos as reference to continue drawing.
In the first class, the instructor will use Oregon grape, salal, and black berry leaves for her demonstration. You will need graphite pencils and drawing papers.
