Business & Professional Women (BPW) Langley are thrilled to present our 3rd Annual Christmas Social & Silent Auction Fundraiser on Wednesday December 7th at 6 pm at Newlands Golf & Country Club. Our keynote speaker is Daphne Bramham, an award-winning journalist and author.
A fun evening of socializing, cheer, fundraising and Christmas shopping - all for a wonderful cause. About our keynote speaker
Daphne Bramham is a Vancouver-based journalist and author. She has written extensively about children’s rights, women’s rights and animal rights.
A columnist for the Vancouver Sun since 2000, she was a finalist for the 2012 National Newspaper Award for column writing, an award she won in 2004 – the same year that she was given a Jack Webster Award for commentator of the year.
In November 2012, she won her third Beyond Borders multi-media award for a six-part series on sex tourism and human trafficking that was based on a month’s worth of research in Cambodia. It was published in print and online with videos and slideshows at www.vancouversun.com/sextourism.
In 2015, Daphne was awarded the Rosemary Brown Award for women and in 2011, she was named Champion of Child and Youth rights by the BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition.
Her book, The Secret Lives of Saints: Child Brides and Lost Boys in Canada’s Polygamous Mormon Sect, was published in 2008 and was nominated for three national, non-fiction book awards.
