SIRTs VR/AR Innovation Lab has been established to help you build your capacity in these sectors through development and application of new processes, products and services.  Through support from the National Research Council's IRAP program, your company can receive initial funding support to work with SIRT to explore how you can accelerate product and process development, marketing and commercialization in the VR and AR sectors.

The SIRT Centre, located at Pinewood Toronto Studios, is a unique innovation sound stage facility that has been serving Ontario’s film, television, gaming and interactive media sectors for over six years. Recognized provincially and nationally for its focus on applied research and commercialization of new products and processes, SIRT’s facilities and expertise provide the basis for a range of activities including research, prototype development, consulting, production and evaluation of demonstration content, and training.

SIRT’s focus in the VR and AR areas includes both technological and creative aspects of content development and display. Full-time staff expertise includes extensive experience in live action cinematography, visual effects, computer animation, motion capture, previsualization, computer programming and directing. Within our 10,000 square foot sound stage, SIRT has acquired the core technologies to enable VR/AR content creation: a variety of head-mounted displays, 360 camera rigs, motion capture, green screen for visual effects, binaural and ambisonic microphones, and a full suite of post-production tools for both sound and picture.
