Event description

Description

On December 22, 2017, the United States passed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The new law is incredibly complex and will have a dramatic impact on Americans who reside in Canada and for Canadians who have direct or indirect investments or other ties to the US.

Accordingly, the objective of this 2-hour seminar is to cut through the complexity and noise and describe for affected taxpayers and their advisors in plain English the following:

1. How will this impact US citizens who are residents of Canada? What should they do?

2. Is the US “open for business?" If Canadian private businesses would like to expand to the US, what do they need to be aware of?

3. Is traditional planning for Canadians investing into the US (personal or business) now turned on its head? (Spoiler alert...yes, yes it is).

4. Will US tax reform impact Canadians’ estate planning?

Speakers: Roy A Berg, JD, LLM (US TAX), (Director, US Tax Law); Marsha-laine Dungog, JD, LLM (US Tax), Director, US Tax Law; Azam Rajan, JD, LLM (US Tax), US Tax Lawyer; Kenneth Keung CA, CPA (CO, USA), TEP, CFP, MTAX, LLB (Director, Canadian Tax Advisory); Kim G C Moody FCA, TEP (Director, Canadian Tax Advisory), and James Meadow, CA, CPA (NC), LLM (US TAX), MBA, Of Counsel, US Tax Lawyer.

Investment: $10, with all proceeds donated to Project Warmth

Available after the seminar is exclusive access to the full recording. We’ll also be live-tweeting throughout (#MoodysChat) and following up with a Q&A Facebook Live event so you can ask MGTL team members your questions on US tax reform.
