Event description

Description

Established in 1966 and purchased by Anthony von Mandl in 1981, Mission Hill Family Estate Winery has become an internationally recognised jewel in the crown of British Columbia's wine industry. It's 1992 vintage Chardonnay won the trophy for "Best Chardonnay" at the 1994 International Wine and Spirit Competition, becoming the first Okanagan winery to receive significant overseas recognition. Subsequently, Mission Hill began an ambitious $35 million rebuild of the winery, which was completed after six years in 2002.

Mission Hill Family Estate farms 32 family-owned estate vineyards in the Okanagan Valley, with estate vineyards in each of the five growing regions; West Kelowna, East Kelowna, Naramata Bench, Black Sage Bench in south-east Oliver and Osoyoos. Under the direction of chief winemaker Darryl Brooker, the Estate produces wines across five tiers, which are showcased at Mission Hill's own Terrace Restaurant. Overlooking Lake Okanagan, Terrace was named as one of the five best winery restaurants in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine.

As a celebration of their recognition as a Canadian Treasure, we are delighted to host Mission Hill Family Estate ExecutiveChef Patrick Gayler for a one-off banquet dinner. A native of Edmonton, AB, Chef Patrick is a graduate of NAIT and has over 15 years of experience at notable restaurants across Alberta and B.C. In addition, Patrick is a past Chef Member of Culinary Team Canada; representing both national and provincial teams in multiple culinary competitions, including the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg and the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany. Working in the Okanagan, with its abundance of fresh produce, is a chef’s dream and Patrick enjoys working with local farmers and producers to ensure Mission Hill Family Estate’s culinary program continues to showcase the best of the region.

Beginning with a short reception followed by a 4-course dinner complete with beverages, tickets for this dinner are limited and priced at $85 plus HST and applicable fees.
