About this event

Learn the ins and outs of how chocolate is made and how to temper chocolate easily at home. Practice your new skills to make molded chocolate bars in dark chocolate with different add in ingredients, and rolled truffles to take home. THIS WILL BE OUR LAST SCHEDULED CLASS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2024.

Milk and white chocolate tempering will be discussed. We will provide you with loaner molds, and enough dark chocolate to cast a set of three bars and roll nine salted caramel truffles, as well as filling for your truffles. Please bring your own reusable containers for your chocolates.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE REQUIRE THAT ALL STUDENTS WEAR A MASK DURING OUR CLASS AS PART OF FOOD SAFETY PROCEDURES. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE DRESSED APPROPRIATELY FOR A KITCHEN ENVIRONMENT (no open toed shoes, extreme high heels, or bare feet; please wear a shirt, preferably with sleeves that can be pushed up; hair tied back; aprons welcomed! If you have a long beard, you must tie it back or wear a hair net). WE WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE IF YOU CANNOT COMPLY WITH BASIC KITCHEN SAFETY. We have begun tasting items again in our classes, so please take this into account regarding your COVID-19 comfort level.

This class is 16+. We may relax the age requirement if a child aged 12-15 wishes to attend the class and is accompanied by a responsible adult who is also taking the class. Please contact us for details. This class is nut free and gluten-free and vegan friendly.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the class?

We estimate 2.5 hours for our classes, but the actual length depends on the students and how long they take to complete the activities. Everyone learns at a different pace, so some students may finish in 1.5 hours, and others may need 3 hours.

Where can we park?

This is an evolving question as the Broadway rapid transit construction changes the parking in the area frequently. There is paid parking near Jonathan Rogers Park, as well as along Columbia and Alberta, and some time limited residential free parking on 10th and 11th Avenues.

REFUND POLICY: We offer refunds on a case by case basis, but only in exigent circumstances. Situations in which we will NOT issue refunds are if you forget that you bought tickets, if you double booked another event, or if you failed to allow enough time for travel or failed to purchase enough tickets for your group and the event is now sold out. Tickets are PER PERSON and unticketed observers are NOT allowed in our classes. Due to cost expenditures, limited space, and difficulty selling cancelled tickets on short notice, we do not offer refunds requested with less than 48 hours notice. Tickets are transferrable to another attendee of your choice at any time, we simply request that you inform us by email of the change and provide the alternative attendee with a copy of your ticket. We are not responsible for the security of your email, and in instances where more than one person shows up per ticket, we reserve the right to require ID and to refuse entry to anyone other than the ticket purchaser. In instances of illness or emergency, we can, in some circumstances, offer a transfer to another class date, with only one transfer permitted per order. We do not offer refunds on previously transferred tickets. In the case where we cancel a class, a transfer or refund will be offered by email. Failure to respond to this offer within 45 days of the cancellation email will be considered the same as if you were a no-show to our event and we will refuse all refund and transfer requests.

AGE POLICY: Our classes are generally 16 and over. In limited circumstances we will allow students younger than 16, provided that they are accompanied by an adult guardian. Please contact us before purchasing tickets. We reserve the right to refuse to allow anyone under 16 to attend if prior notice has not been given and no refunds will be issued in these circumstances. Please note that our instructors are not trained nor qualified to teach children under 16.
