Workshop Description

The Brain's Way of Healing

This workshop, based on the best-selling books The Brain that Changes Itself and The Brain’s Way of Healing, draws on revolutionary research and extraordinary advances in the field of neuroscience to illuminate the amazing extent to which the brain is able to change and heal.  Dr. Doidge weaves together scientific research, case histories, his own insights, and original films of real people undergoing neuroplastic change, to explain how we can apply these findings in clinical practice – and to help clients/patients with a range of emotional, psychological, psychiatric and  brain disorders to achieve a level of recovery that was once thought impossible.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Neuroplastic approaches and new treatments for a range of conditions including ADD, learning disorders, autism, sensory processing disorders, PTSD, depression, schizophrenia, chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, stroke, MS, Parkinson’s disease and dystonias, Alzheimer’s and dementia
  • The “Plastic Paradox”: how certain conditions such as addiction, bad habits, defense mechanisms, chronic pain, dystonias, PTSD and OCD, are caused by the brain’s plasticity going awry, and clinical strategies to remedy this
  • The five stages of neuroplastic healing and how to determine which stage needs clinical attention in clients
  • New non-invasive treatments for a range of disorders
