About this event

  • 2 hours

Join us for the fourth in a series of exciting free events dedicated to sustainability in Ottawa! At the Coffee House on Sustainability – Transportation, we’ll dive into discussions about EVs, PHEVs, charging infrastructure, car-sharing, car-free living, e-bikes, and other eco-friendly options for improving the air quality of our communities. We’ll also talk about 15-minute communities and how to make our neighbourhoods more walkable and cycling friendly.

We will feature two brief presentations: “A Beginner’s Guide to, and Busting Myths about, EVs” (Mike Banks, VP, EV Council of Canada) and “The 15-Minute Neighbourhood” (Carolyn Mackenzie, Walkable Ottawa).

At breakout tables, participants can talk with neighbours who have experience with EVs, PHEVs, car-free living, e-bikes, active transportation and working with the City to address local traffic issues and strengthen the City's motor vehicle idling by-law.

Organizations doing exciting work in sustainable transportation and 15-minute communities will host info tables: EV Council of Ottawa, Communauto, Walkable Ottawa, Ecology Ottawa, EnviroCentre, the City of Ottawa, Strong Towns Ottawa, CAFES and more.

Ottawa Public Library will offer a selection of books to borrow on greening our transportation and on walkable/bikable communities from the Ottawa Public Library.

Mark your calendars and bring your favorite mug to enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee courtesy of Bridgehead Coffee and Second Cup along with a cookie from Whole Foods Market at Lansdowne Park, while engaging in thought-provoking conversations. Together, we can explore innovative ways to make a positive impact on our planet. Don’t miss out on this inspiring gathering!
