COMPASS for the Caregiver is an award-winning education course designed to help caregivers adopt additional tools and strategies for managing the stress of caregiving.

If you’ve heard about COMPASS and are curious about how to become a partner offering it in your community, we’re inviting you to join this session and find out more.

For current partners and facilitators of this program, this is an exciting release of a NEW partner and training model to make it easier and more accessible for our partners and community members to participate in this program.

About the meeting:

As part of our new partner model, we will hold these COMPASS Community of Practice meetings throughout the year. It will serve as a dual purpose: an opportunity to share success stories and discuss the program's value at a local level; and gather facilitators for important pieces of training and support.

This session is for you to learn more about the NEW partner model and requirements for training. Most notably, the changes involve:

  1. Reduced costs for training and program materials (manuals)
  2. Annual fee of $250 for agencies to be a licensed program partner
  3. Facilitators are now required to be staff or volunteer with a registered program partner (or Caregivers Alberta directly)
  4. NEW training that includes self-paced learning in an online learning management system

COMPASS has been offered through community partnerships all over the province for 18 years! The intended outcomes and success stories remain the same:

“At a time when I was overwhelmed, stressed and felt lost in a world I no longer understood, COMPASS gave me the tools to believe in myself and my capabilities as a caregiver. COMPASS was the lifeline I needed to help me understand how to take back my life and move forward with clarity and purpose.”
