The Workshop:

Join in these three days of pure bluegrass bliss as the Hillbilly Bluegrass Choir Band! Located at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds on luxurious Vancouver Island. Live the joy of making music with like-minded friends. Learn to sing 3-part harmony and play instruments in a traditional bluegrass band. All levels are welcome. Come sing, play fiddle, guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, dobro and, special guests, ukulele. Bring any string instrument you wish to develop or just sing!

Gain confidence in learning the Nashville Number System, how to use a capo, find the right key for your voice, how to transpose, improvise, how to sing 3-part harmony, improvise, follow chord charts and more.

By day you'll enjoy six Bluegrass workshops led by critically acclaimed artist Jenny Lester. In your free time explore the world class Qualicum Beach. Parksville mini put is just 15 minutes away. Walk or drive to the Old Country Market for an international market of food, clothing, fun souvenirs and real life goats on the roof. Swim in the Englishman River or take in the waterfall.

CAMPING Double occupancy camping is available for $20 per night, with extra persons at only $10 each. Camping includes a coin operated shower facility, bathrooms, garbage/ recycling collection and field or forest location. Do I need to give financial information online to register?

No financials required! Registration is so that I can collect your contact information. You can select to pay in person with Cash or Cheque.

Can I change my time if I am part time?

Yes, no problem. Registration is so I have your contact info and registration, you can change times if you are part time.

Does camping have water, septic or electrical?

No RV hookups, however there is water, flush toilets, showers and power outlets available for charging devices. Food is available by walking to the Old Country Market, James Island Grill and PetroCan has a Kentucky Fried Chicken.

What songs are you teaching on what days?

The program offers a variety of songs from the Bluegrass culture that teach certain skills. We will learn 6-8 songs and repeat different ones each session as needed for practice.
