This session is the second in a series presented via a partnership between Ibrahim J. Long, MSW, MA, and REACH Edmonton.

Interactive Online Training:

While this session will be held online, we intend to create an interactive learning space.

Counselling Muslim Clients

Join us to learn about the spiritual, psychological, and cultural frameworks that intersect with your Muslim client’s mental health goals and concerns. Participants will be introduced to essential concepts in Islamic spirituality, the history of Islamic psychology, and religious practices that are essential to understand when counselling your Muslim clientele. Participants will:

  • Gain a better understanding of Islamic beliefs and practices around mental health.
  • Learn about current and historical developments in the practice of Islamic psychology.
  • Gain a better understanding of the contemporary role and function of the imam in relation to mental health.
  • Develop cultural competencies through guided lessons and cases studies.
