Description

Enhance elementary students’ ability to use data to design creative solutions to relevant, real-world problems as well as the development of students' global competencies including critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration and communication. Collaborate with colleagues and engage in meaningful discussions on program planning for elementary education.


This is a full day professional learning session that will provide elementary school educators opportunities to explore learning strategies that will help move students from being digital consumers to digital innovators.


Expected Outcomes:

  • Gain practical, hands-on experience with student-centered, curriculum-aligned STEM resources that can be implemented into your elementary classroom.

  • Understand computational thinking and the related skills and competencies

  • Investigate the use of sensors and their application in the real world

  • Identify and refine a problem to be solved/need to be met through engaging in a hands-on design challenge

  • Explore data science concepts by collecting and analyzing student-generated data

  • Collaborate with colleagues and engage in meaningful discussions that support program planning in early STEM education

This session is open to all Grade 4 to 6 Educators.
