Welcome to the Tour of Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant!

Come join us for an exciting in-person event at the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant in celebration of Durham's 50th Anniversary! Get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how we work to protect the environment and keep our water clean. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the processes involved in wastewater treatment and the importance of water conservation. Don't miss out on this educational and eye-opening experience!

P lease note:

  • Tours are approximately 30 to 40 minutes, and consist of walking outdoors
  • Please dress for the weather as the majority of the plant is outside
  • For safety reasons close toed footwear is required
  • P lease arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour time
  • S trollers are not recommended due to uneven terrain at the facility

Tickets are free. All participants must have a ticket to secure their time slot.

Frequently asked questions

What will we see on the tour?

Durham Region staff will guide tour groups through the wastewater treatment plant, explaining each stage of the process. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and watch wastewater flow through our treatment system.

How long is the tour?

Each tour will be between 30-40 minutes.

Can I bring a stroller?

Due to the uneven terrain at the wastewater treatment facility, and space limitations between process equipment, strollers and wagons are not recommended.
