Event description

Description

Are you working on a business idea, or would like to but don't know where to begin? You can get the help you need during our Ask an Expert session, organized by The Dream Hall. For two hours, we'll be holding multiple group discussions led by experts in the field. We'll be covering product definition, social media, branding, funding, and cofounders.

Take a moment to invest in yourself and your ideas. We'll be waiting for you!

How It Works

Every discussion will be driven entirely by questions from the participants. You can switch from group to group as often as you like. Or you can stay with a single group for the entire time and then target a different group at our next event. You get to decide how to make the most of your time.

Moreover, you can arrive at any time and stay for as long as you need or until the event ends, accomodating whatever scheduling issues you might have that evening.

If you have an idea for a business, here are just some of the questions you can put up for discussion...

  • Can my idea make money?
  • How can I target the right customers?
  • Should I use Facebook or Instagram for my business?
  • How can I set up an online store?
  • How can I find a co-founder?
  • What help do I need to get started and where can I find it?

If you are already working on a business idea, you might have other concerns...

  • How can I get more people to know about me?
  • How can I get more people to convert to customers?
  • How can I grow this business profitably?
  • How can I find and retain the talent that I need?
  • How can I get funding?

FAQs

How can I get the most out of this event?

Here are a few tips...

  1. Show up early - showing up earlier will mean that more attention is given to your personal questions.
  2. Participate - be the one to throw a question into the ring. Don't be shy. You can learn a lot by listening to other people's issues being resolved, but you will learn more if the issue is specific to your business.
  3. Book the experts for one-on-one time - if you like an expert, book time with them outside of the event. Each expert has their own prices for one-on-one time, so don't be afraid to ask for a business card.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is plenty of indoor parking in the downtown area, including an underground lot on Peel below St. Catherine, just 1 block away. Metered parking is available on all streets.

For those taking public transit, simply take the green line to Peel station and use the Stanley street exit. That will put you half a block from our location.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

A ticket is preferred, but we will have your name on a list at the door. If you bring ID, that will be sufficient. If your name is not on our list, you will need to pay upon entry.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, so long as the person whose name is actually on the ticket did not already show up with ID (see previous question). Otherwise, you will need to pay upon entry.
