About this event

Energy modelling is the software used to analyze and optimize the energy characteristics of buildings.

HOT2000 is an energy modelling system developed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) specifically for analysis of new single-family homes.

Since it developed the pioneering its RETScreen energy modelling software in 1998 NRCan has been the global leader in this field.

HOT2000 addresses the energy modelling performance requirements of SB12, where SB stands for Sustainable Buildings, an annex to Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code, the section of OBC devoted to the construction of new single-family homes

HOT2000 models are developed by architects, HVAC designers and constructor, consulting engineers and energy consultants who have been engaged for the new development project. This course is designed for professionals from these areas.

This one-day introductory class provides a basic introduction to the use and application HOT2000 to new homes. In addition, the training will focus on the multiple options permitted in order to comply with the SB12 including both the performance path and calculated cost savings. The class will provide students with a deeper understanding of OBC SB12 requirements and the fundamentals about the general mode of HOT2000 energy simulation.

This class will be taught by Jack Zhou, a veteran energy modeler who has a energy modelling consulting firm, and has provided expert advice to the energy modeling sector for many years. Full Bio: www.rwinstitute.ca/jack-zhou
